Constable (1999)
Hoodwinked
Assistant Chief Constable Phil (Sweeney) Todd is in pursuit of a violent killer who has claimed two victims on an inland isle in Eastern England. Modern police aids like the HOLMES computer and psychological profiling have so far failed to find him and the hunt has gone global. Now Todd is in Cuba, where the investigation centres on the seedy world of sex tourism. Todd's presence on the island should be a secret, but news of his mission has been leaked and he's in trouble.

First British Edition Constable (1998)
Black Gold
Chief Superintendent Phil 'Sweeney' Todd feels the heat in a case which starts out with a routine car crash in a police pursuit, escalating into murder and bullion smuggling. As he watches the clock ticking towards the showdown, Todd suspects that armed hijackers are about to spring an ambush, but he is unable to find the thread that pulls them together. This is the most high-pressure case of his career so far.

Final Score
Chief Superintendent Phil ('Sweeney') Todd, hampered by an old leg wound, has to watch a fugitive escape. All he'd wanted to tell him was that his conviction for a cop killing sixteen years ago in a riot after a football match is being reinvestigated. Now the man's on the run ,seeking revenge, and Todd can't catch up with him. It becomes a race against time that takes Todd into the glitzy world of soccer superstars and agents, and the uncomfortable company of jailbirds and weirdos. Todd's performance is below par - will he find his true form in time!

Hot Toddy
See Review by Terence Strong
Detective Superintendent Phil 'Sweeney' Todd is fielded as a last-minute substitute when a security service agent disappears hunting a renegade ex-spy handler at an international conference. A gun is missing. So is money from a slush fund. And, when the MI5 man is found dead in a drain, Todd finds himself pitted against a powerful peer, a magazine editor and a blonde translator who offers more than interpreting service. Does it all add up to dirty work in MI5?

Murder Live
See Review by John Boyles
Chief Superintendent Phil Todd is assigned to a murder that gripped the nation - the shooting of a journalist on a live television programme produced, to the great embarrassment of the Home Office, with the full co-operation of the police. His enquiries take him into the darkest corners of a lovely cathedral city - drugs smuggling, safeblowing, fabricated evidence and blue movies - and the bright lights of showbiz . . .
