REVIEW
Charlotte MacLeod - Exit the Milkman
HarperCollins £14.99
Professor Peter Shandy and his wife, Helen, live in Balaclava, where their neighbours are Jim Feldster, expert on Dairy Management at Balaclava  Agricultural College  and his wife Mirelle. All is not well in the Feldster household and Jim is found most evenings at one of his many Lodges, avoiding the company of his waspish wife.
Early one morning the Shandys are awakened by Mirelle who tells them that her husband has not returned home and it later transpires that he had not arrived at his destination the previous evening.  He has disappeared.
Feldster’s disappearance is followed by the death of his wife Mirelle whose body has been found in her living room in rather bizarre circumstances.
The arrival on the scene of mystery writer Catriona McBogle (friend of Helen Shandy),  who decides to do some sleuthing of her own, reveals to the reader that there is a connection between Jim Feldster and the wealthy Feldstermeier family, the head of which, Foster Feldstermeier, milk magnate, has just died. Jim Feldster steps into the role of head of the Feldstermeier family.
Back at Balaclava a fire destroys the home of the Feldsters and the truth at last begins to emerge concerning the temporary disappearance of Jim and the death of his wife.
Another entertaining mystery by this author, east reading, witty, and once started, difficult to put down.
