Again, the dust jacket of this book, now reproduced in facsimile, is straightforward in
the extreme – unlike the plot, which centres around the arrival in St Mary Mead of a
famous actress and her retinue. A local woman is killed, apparently by mistake, and
soon it looks as though the actress will be the next victim, unless murderer and motive
are puzzled out. A thoroughly agreeable murder mystery.
