The Blue Edge of Midnight by
Jonathon King

This is a notable debut novel which Orion are shrewdly making available in hardback
at a bargain price which is sure to attract many readers on the look-out for the next
major American thriller writer. The hero is Max Freeman, whose twelve-year career
as a cop in Philadelphia was ended when he shot a boy in self-defence. Now he leads
a solitary existence in the Everglades, but one day in high summer, death comes into
his life once again when he chances across the body of a child by the river. What sets
this book apart from many conventional serial killer novels is the evocative writing.
King's style has already earned comparisons with that of James Lee Burke and James
W. Hall and it may well be that Orion have a new star in their firmament.
