Sword of Shame by
Medieval Murderers

Following the success of their first collective effort, 'The Tainted Relic', the five
historical mystery writers who brand themselves as the Medieval Murderers have
produced another intriguing set of inter-linked stories. In a prologue, Michael Jecks
explains how the sword came into existence, and he contributes a story sandwiched in
between those by Bernard Knight, Ian Morson, Susanna Gregory and Philip Gooden.
Morson wraps up the book in suitably gruesome fashion in an epilogue set in the
present day. This is an interesting venture – more difficult to execute than readers
might suspect, but accomplished with great gusto by five leaders in the history-
mystery field.
