This is a stunning crime novel, one of the best I have read in years. It tells the story of
a family torn apart when a teenage son is suspected of involvement in the
disappearance of a young girl whom he had been baby-sitting. Cook describes the
corrosive nature of suspicion with remarkable skill and sensitivity. It is all utterly and
frighteningly believable. Strongly recommended.
