Problem at Pollensa Bay by
Agatha Christie

This late collection brought together more odds and ends from the Christie workshop. There
is a Harley Quin and Satterthwaite story, while the title tale and 'The Regatta Mystery'
feature that intriguing character Mr Parker Pyne. A particular curiosity is the longish story
'Yellow Iris'. This is a highly competent detective mystery in which Hercule Poirot is the
detective. If it seems familiar, that is because Christie later expanded it into the excellent
novel 'Sparkling Cyanide' - but Poirot was dropped in the process. Comparing the two texts
is interesting for the insight it provides into Christie's craft. A sound if unsensational
collection of eight varied stories.
