Oxford: Crime, Death and Debauchery by
Giles Brindley

This breezy compendium of scandals and misdemeanours through the centuries
proves that the city of dreaming spires was a hot-spot of crime long before Inspector
Morse showed up. The relentlessly jokey style will not be to everyone's taste, but
there are quite a few good lines accompanied by masses of information, much of it
quirky and entertaining. Giles Brindley's researches have been wide-ranging and the
result is a light collection of tit-bits that is undoubtedly readable.
