The story of three freshman students, Randall, Kathryn and Jesse, who become embroiled in the intrigue surrounding two university murders. A professor’s wife is found drowned in an icy river and some twenty years earlier a corpse was dragged from a frozen creek. Randall had been having a covert affair with the professor and begins to have his own suspicions about the death. Each of the three students had escaped to college, burying the secrets of their past and hoping to carve out a new life on fresh territory. But as winter traps them on the snowbound campus, malevolent forces play a deadly game manoeuvring the three towards the horrific ‘snow garden’.
Gothic crime with convincing characters and the authentic flavour of US college life. Rice plots well too and events hurtle towards a breathtaking and chilling denouement.
