Robin Ballantyne is the mother of three-year-old twins and a television

missing people and when she begins to ask questions regarding a colleague,
Melanie Jacobs, who disappeared, she gets a very clear message from her
superiors that she should stay well clear. Melanie covered war zones and
some people believe she was suffering post traumatic shock syndrome and
committed suicide, others that she fled her old life in search of peace. Robin's
quest takes her into the hazardous terrain of Cambodia and brings her up
against men who have fought in Afghanistan and the Gulf. There's a stench
of conspiracy but exactly who is involved? Sampson skilfully combines the
thrills of an adventure with nuanced observations of domestic life and the
world of reportage. A very enjoyable read.
