Tangled Web UK Review September 2007
No Time For Goodbye by

Billed as a writer in the vein of Harlan Coben, Barclay treads similar ground with a
thriller that pits the security of suburban American life against the convoluted
mysteries and menace of sudden jeopardy. Twenty five years after her whole family
disappeared, Cynthia Archer, still desperate for answers, takes part in a TV
documentary about the incident. Soon after, Cynthia receives a disturbing call about
her family, a call that implies they are still alive. From this point on a corkscrew story
unfolds, narrated by Cynthia's husband Terry. It's a white-knuckle ride and Barclay
keeps us gripped till the bloody finale. Certainly addictive although the depiction of
family life may strike some readers as a little cloying and it seems odd that a
significant clue to solving the mystery was overlooked in the original investigation.
