Lieutenant Alex Delillo, a Pasadena detective, believes herself to be an only child.
Her parents divorced when she was five and all she remembers of her father comes
from the bit parts she's seen him play on television and in the movies. But a dead
body in her jurisdiction proves to be that of John Manning, Alex's brother, who had
tried to contact her the night he died. As Alex tries to find out more about him she
finds unsettling links to unsolved murder cases attributed to the River Killer. Three
young women were murdered and dumped by the Los Angeles River and Alex's
father was a prime suspect in that investigation. Terrifying flashbacks begin to
disturb Alex as she tries to piece together events from her childhood with the
alarming picture she is uncovering of her estranged father. This is the second title
from Frost and the first to be published in the UK. It is a cracking story, both exciting
and poignant and told with great zest.
