Missing by
Susan HepburnCaitlin and Daniel live with their parents in The Darrowdale community, a safe haven - until one summer's day when their mother Laura Richardson goes missing and is never seen again. Twenty years on and Caitlin has severed all ties with her remaining family and built a new life. Then a note comes to the Complimentary Health Clinic where she works: "I know where she is. Your mother." Caitlin's world is turned upside down and the trauma of revisiting buried memories and unearthing the truth begins. Daniel has also received a note and is trying to trace his sister and an investigative journalist is working hard on the mystery hoping to shed new light on Laura's disappearance. But the letter-writer has sinister motives and plans for the family, intending to lead them into a merry, murderous dance. The plot of Missing twists and turns like a labyrinth and there is precious little chance of the reader working out who done what and why. Lively and taut debut, an enjoyable psychological thriller from Hepburn that keeps us guessing till the end.
