Metro Girl by
Janet Evanovich
pbk out September 05
(HarperCollins)
at £6.99
Evanovich swaps her bounty hunter Stephanie Plum for car-mechanic cum amateur
action sleuthette, Alex Barnaby, in this rom-com crime romp. It's high farce with a
missing brother, Miami hit men, big boats, very large cockroaches, stolen Cuban
missiles, gold and kooky strangers who end up helping our gal out. Barnaby is
compelled to join forces with hunky NASCAR (that's stock car racing) Guy, Sam
Hooker. Her brother Wild Bill Barnaby has stolen Hooker's boat and the pair need to
find and rescue him. If Plum's the flavour you like, don't fear; Barnaby is very much
in the same mould. Evanovich's trademark humour lives on and we've the reliable
formula of completely implausible but highly entertaining escapade blended with the
sparring couple and the will they/won't they - of course they will - love interest.
Perfect fare for curling up with on the sofa on a gloomy winter's weekend.
