Maggie Wilson is attacked and left unconscious and bleeding in the remote
farmhouse where she lives. Though still alive, she is suffering from brain
damage and recovers slowly in hospital. Maggie remembers the assault and
is able to name her attacker – her husband Nate. He is found guilty and sent
to prison. Six years later, Maggie still strives to cope with the legacy of the
brutal event and is devastated to hear that another man has confessed to the
crime. His account is believed, he is familiar with the details of the night in
question, and Nate is released. Were Maggie's memories false? Did she
accuse the wrong man? She is forced to relive the past, to face memories
she would rather hide from, to edge closer to the truth. Totally compelling first
novel from Jaskunas. Reading it, we hold our breath, desperate to find out
what really happened and equally anxious about what may be revealed.
Characters that grip and a story that resonates long after the book is finished.
