Goldy Bear (yup) is a caterer who takes a summer job as live-in chef with
General Bo and Adele Farquhar in their impressive Aspen Meadows mansion.
Not only will the post help with Goldy's shrinking finances but more
importantly it provides her and son Arch with a refuge from Goldy's abusive
ex-husband (the Jerk) and time to get her own house kitted out with the
latest in security measures. But Goldy's summer sojourn in Colorado turns
into a nightmare when her new boyfriend Philip is killed in a mysterious car
crash and she is attacked by an unknown assailant. In between fulfilling
her duties as chef and continuing with her own catering business Goldy tries to
unpick the mystery.
Dying For Chocolate is a treat for foodies - especially those with a sweet
tooth and a penchant for generosity with the cream and the butter - and for
mystery fans. Recipes for several dishes are included throughout and
there's even an index at the back so that when you've finished the book you
can start on the cooking. Lively writing with a sure comic touch, an amiable
and quick witted sleuth and a satisfying whodunnit.
