Dearly Devoted Dexter by

Another serial killer story but one that's written with tongue firmly in cheek and
a waspish sense of humour. Psychopath Dexter likes to kill, he only kills
those who deserve it, and he researches his victims well to ensure he doesn't
make any mistakes. Dexter works as a blood spatter pattern analyst for the
police and his job gives him access to information that helps his crusade. But
in this adventure, his plans for despatching a particularly nasty piece of work
are interrupted. Sergeant Doakes is shadowing Dexter and, in an attempt to
throw him off the trail, Dexter spends more time with his girlfriend and her
children, living the life of a family man. When a body turns up, horribly, gut-
churningly, mutilated – even by serial killer standards – Dexter is drawn into
the plan to trap the killer. To do so he must work in partnership with the
loathsome Doakes. Darkly Dreaming Dexter, introduced Lindsay's warped
protagonist to the world. This second novel confirms Lindsay as a writer who
can tell a gripping, grisly story shot through with gleeful wit.
