Lyndle Hall, a spooky medieval manor house in the Northumbrian National Park, is
home to tormented student Nicholas Herrol. Nicholas' father has gone missing
along with 18 year old Ginny Mulholland who had taken a summer job at the Hall.
When Detective Inspector Tate meets Nicholas and witnesses his severely
disturbed behaviour he suspects something more sinister than elopement accounts
for the disappearances. His investigation is hampered by the arrival of world
renowned celebrity psychic John Cranmer, eager to assist the police. Audrah
Sidow teaches parapsychology and is convinced that everything on earth has a
rational explanation but she has never been able to discredit Cranmer's claims
and she determines to have a final try. Audrah is no stranger herself to the
unexplained loss of a loved one and the desire for understanding. To Lyndle also
comes grieving mother Marion Thomas, hoping that Cranmer can help her in her
quest to uncover the truth behind her daughter's tragic death.
An intriguing psychological thriller, densely structured with a clutch of
mysteries all of which are successfully unravelled. Intelligently written and
vivid in its portrayal of diverse and desperate characters.
