Terrified of her violent estranged husband Diazien Hossencofft, Girly
Chew told her employers to phone the police if she ever failed to arrive
for work. They fearfully did so on September 10th 1999.
Investigating, police found Girly's door unlocked and large stains on her
carpet resembling mopped-up bloodstains. The thirty six year old had
apparently been praying to her Buddhist goddess when she was attacked
and taken from her Albuquerque home.
September Sacrifice slowly unfolds to reveal the bizarre world of a con
man willing to go to any lengths to reinvent himself, changing his name to Diazien
Hossencofft before meeting Girly. Soon he attempts to control her completely,
and is equally controlling with his mistresses, even managing to gain sole custody
of his illegitimate infant son. Finally, he lures yet another confused woman into
his web of deceit and persuades her that Girly has to die... Mark Horner is a television reporter living in Albuquerque. Interviewing
police, witnesses and close friends of the victim, he spent four-and-a-half
years researching this book.
