Dr Anthony Pignatoro was the plastic surgeon from hell, a sociopath
whose arrogance led to the demise of one of his patients. Her untimely
death led to him serving jail time. Released, he dreamt up a plot to restore
his good name, a plot which involved feeding arsenic to his unsuspecting
wife...
Ann Rule is excellent, as always, at presenting all of the crime-related
facts, though it would have been nice to have known more about
Pignatoro's childhood and any other formative experiences. Why did he
become a man without a conscience, a man so completely self obsessed?
The other case studies in this volume involve a twenty year old man who
murdered a waitress and was eventually released from prison only to
murder another; a psychopath who killed a hotelier and later murdered a
friend of his wife who disliked him; a sex offender who strangled two
female hitchhikers and a jilted man who strangled his mother's lover then
abducted a stranger from her home.
