More of a cyber-novel than crime, with a dash of SF thrown in. This is
the sequel to a previous novel Creepers and, as with some sequels and
series, having read the earlier book one is an advantage in getting up to speed
with the characters and their past history.
Frank Balenger, half wrecked by the events in Creepers, is living with
Amanda, also featured in that earlier story, when they are both drugged and
Amanda is kidnapped, being transported to a remote valley in Wyoming
with several other abductees. With much techno-stuff, like camera-
surveillance and explosive jump-suits, they are told by a sinister 'Game-
Master' who directs them via radio, that they have forty hours to
complete his tasks or die. The affair is based on an elaborate 'treasure-
hunt' game, seeking hidden time-capsules, which is at the root of the plot.
It ends in time-honoured fashion by the arch-enemy being hidden at the
controls within a mountain, all ready for the explosives to be detonated.
Exciting stuff, of the James Bond variety with added technology.
