A police procedural involving Detective Inspector Sally Speckle of Loston CID, in which a skeletalised body is found in a wood by a metal detector which locates a brass ring on a shoulder-bag strap which is assumed to be a murder ligature. Said by a presumably clairvoyant pathologist to have been dead for about five years, a Missing Persons enquiry ensues, in which two candidates emerge.
A complicated story with perhaps too many characters follows, in which doctors and dentists play more than a clinical role. The original dentist of one of the hot favourites has retred with Alzheimers and his successor claims to have no knowledge of the patients.
It has to be said that writing style leaves something to be desired, being rather naïve and cliché-ridden. A good going-over by an experienced script editor would have improved the finished product.
