Fighters: Lives & Sad Deaths of Mills & Turpin by
James Morton
pbk out January 05
(Time Warner)
at £7.99
A non-fiction book, describing the deaths in the 1960's of
Briish boxers Freddie Mills and Randolph Turpin.
Both were shot within about a year of each other and controversy still
exists about whether they were suicides or murders.
The book gives biographical accounts of both men and the
circumstances and sequelae of their deaths. There is even a suggestion
that Freddie Mills might hinself have been a murderer of prostitutes.
An interesting book, particularly for those who follow the boxing
world, especially its sleazier side. The writer is well-known for his
books on gangs and gangsters and this one is is in the same mould.
