Among The Dead by

A group of university students, four boys and a girl, run over and kill another student after a
drunken night out. Though the driver offers to own up, they collectively decide to leave it
as 'hit and run', with dire consequences to their consciences.
As usual, it is impossible to review the plot without giving the game away to the reader, but
the action moves on to a decade later when the original tragedy still throws up its unhappy
legacy and others end up dead.
Well-written, as almost all books are these days, or they'd never get published in such a
competitive market. It's not a tale to cheer you up, being a 'noir' of the more cerebral,
'psychological' variety, probing the reaction of the various characters to the weight of
guilty consciences.
