Crime Scene 2003
National Film Theatre 10-13 July

Welcome to the National Film Theatre's Crime Scene Festival, now in its
fourth year. This year's Festival has a distinct Gallic flavour, with our joint
celebration of the centenary of legendary Belgian novelist Georges Simenon
and our major retrospective of the influential noir film-maker Jean-Pierre Melville.
Aside from a whole host of events associated with these major themes, we are
also delighted to have a comprehensive programme of literary events, marvellously
co-ordinated, once again, by our Literary Director, Maxim Jakubowski, a real
highlight of which is the presence of acclaimed American crime novelist Walter
Mosley
. We are also very pleased to be keeping up the tradition of presenting
a range of new film previews including, most notably, a presentation of
Veronica Guerin accompanied by the first ever Guardian interview with its
star, Cate Blanchett, and director Joel Schumacher.

Director, Crime Scene

Literary Events

Four years of crime authors and a variety of literary events at Crime Scene and, again, we present a glittering array of writers and personalities.
From the USA
Cara Black, Janet Evanovich, Walter Mosley and Lisa Scottoline;
from Canada,
Giles Blunt and Peter Robinson
from France,
Dominique Manotti and Louis Sanders;
from Ireland,
John Connolly;
and from Britain, Mark Billingham, Martina Cole, Lindsey Davis, John Harvey, Edward Marston, Anne Perry and 40 others.
And, to cap it all, on the occasion of his centennial, a celebration of the works of Georges Simenon. It would be criminal to miss it.

Literary Director, Maxim Jakubowski

Organised by Adrian Wootton (Head of Exhibition, British Film Institute and Director of the London Film Festival) and Maxim Jakubowski Literary Director, Crime Scene (owner of Murder One Bookshop and author) this is a major addition to the crime-writing fan's calendar.
