ITV3's six-week Crime Thriller Season
The first ever televised ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards, which celebrats crime and thriller fiction from film, TV and books. Focusing on the greatest crime and thriller films and TV drama of the year – along with the actors who brought the characters to life.
There will be six weeks of the greatest of crime dramas. Each week will begin with a specially commissioned documentary profiling the six best crime writers working today. The six authors who have been chosen are Colin Dexter, Ian Rankin, PD James, Lynda La Plante, Val McDermid and Ruth Rendell.
The series focuses on each of the six authors nominated for the ITV3 Writer’s Award for Classic TV Drama

18th August - First documentary launches featuring Ian Rankin followed by a week of 'Rebus' episodes.
Each documentary over the next 6 weeks includes a feature and run-through of the 3 key new title shortlists including pack shots of every title.
25th August - 2nd Documentary featuring Val McDermid followed by a week of the best 'Wire In The Blood' TV eposodes.
On-air promotion for public vote on the classic drama category commences urging people instore to vote.
1st September - 3rd Documentary featuring Colin Dexter followed by a week of 'Inspector Morse' TV episodes.
8th September - 4th Documentary featuring PD James followed by a week of the best 'Dalgleish' TV episodes.
15th September - 5th Documentary featuring Ruth Rendell followed by a week of the best 'Inspector Wexford' TV episodes.
22nd September - Final documentary featuring Lynda LaPlante followed by a week of the best 'Prime Suspect' TV episodes.
3rd October - ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards Event at Grosvenor House.
6th October - Transmission date for Awards programme.

The documentaries will feature great names from the world of crime writing, including Martina Cole, Peter James, Mark Billingham and Peter Robinson. Well known authors such as Jeffrey Archer, Irvine Welsh and Giles Brandreth also have their say.

Viewers of ITV3 will then be able to vote beging in August between these authors to select the author who will win the first

The ITV3 Crime Thriller Awards
The event will be held 3rd October at London’s Grosvenor Hotel. The awards ceremony will celebrate the best of British and International crime thriller novels.
6th October - Transmission date for Awards programme.
