Gillian Slovo was born in South Africa in 1952, the daughter
of renowned anti-apartheid campaigners Joe Slovo and Ruth First, and came to England in
1964. She has worked as a writer, journalist and film producer. She is the author of an
acclaimed autobiography and several novels, including the Kate Baeier series. She lives in
London with her partner and daughter.
