Creator of TV's Wire in the Blood
The city of Bradfield is mourning.
First their star midfielder is murdered. Then an explosion rips through the football stadium, leaving dozens dead and many more injured.
Is it a terrorist attack? A personal vendetta against the team? Or something even more sinister?
Recovering in hospital, criminal profiler Dr Tony Hill struggles to make sense of the fragments of information he can gather. Unfortunately, his customary ally, DCI Carol Jordan, has been pushed to the margins of the investigation by the intelligence services and is struggling to maintain her own involvement.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they could agree about who they’re looking for. But even their relationship has its dislocations and dark places.
Beneath the Bleeding sets them at odds like never before. Now Tony and Carol must ask themselves questions they would never have thought possible, to find a killer they are unable to imagine…

The International Bestseller
A superb psychological thriller in which present-day murder has its roots in the eighteenth century and the mutiny on the Bounty.
Summer in the Lake District and torrential rain uncovers a bizarrely tattooed body on a hillside. But that is not the only thing to come to the surface: centuries-old tales involving the legendary Pitcairn Massacre are being told again. Did Fletcher Christian, mutinous First Mate on the ill-fated Bounty, fake his own death in order to return home in secret?
Wordsworth scholar Jane Gresham wants to know the truth. There are persistent rumours that the Lakeland poet, a childhood friend of Christian’s, harboured the fugitive and turned his tale into an epic poem - a narrative that has since remained hidden. But as she follows each new lead. death follows hard on her heels. Suddenly, a 200-year-old mystery is putting lives on the line. And against the dramatic backdrop of England’s Lake District, a drama of life and death plays out, its ultimate prize a bounty worth millions.

On a blood-soaked mattress lies a dead prostitute, her limbs spread in a parody of ecstasy, panic and pain etched in her face. The scene matches in every detail a series of murders two years ago - murders that ended when irrefutable forensic evidence secured the conviction of Derek Tyler.
But there’s no way Tyler could have killed the latest victim. He’s been locked up in a mental institution since his trial, barely speaking a word. So is there a copycat?
All his years of experience tell top criminal psychologist Dr Tony Hill that there isn’t - but that would make the murders literally impossible. While Hill tries to crack Tyler, DCI Carol Jordan and her team mount a desperate undercover operation to trap the murderer - a decision that will have terrible consequences.

But when a local car-dealer’s stepson is kidnapped, Lindsay and Rory trade journalism for detection.
