Sally Doone’s cross-examination of Roger Nichols is nothing short of brilliant. Accused of rape, he finds his version of events twisted away from him, as Sally’s every question erodes his fragile credibility. Nichols’ barrister can do little but listen in awe: he needs a miracle to save his client after such a display, and a miracle is what he gets. For, out of nowhere, a witness comes forward to corroborate Nichols’ story, with evidence to prove he was the victim of an elaborate blackmail plot.
But before this explosive information can be brought forward, an even more sensational piece of news reaches the court: depressed by Sally’s cross-examination, convinced that he is bound for jail, Roger Nichols has put a shotgun to his head, and let God be his judge. It is a shock for everyone on the case, but for Sally, under pressure at work and at home, it precipitates a trail of events that will change her life for ever.
In a dazed afternoon of indulgence, Sally purchases an expensive painting on impulse, finds herself invited to a wine tasting, and ends up checking herself into the Ritz. And when a not unattractive businessman invites himself to her table, and takes her on a tour of the downstairs casino, Sally finds herself intoxicated on a heady cocktail of alcohol and abandon. But when the pair return to her hotel room, her evening of fun is suddenly superseded by the businessman’s own sinister agenda…
Courtroom drama of the highest order, The Bird Table Is a breathtaking tale of suspense and emotion, the story of what happens when a lawyer par excellence finds herself fighting for the most important justice of them all - her own.

On Appeal is an exciting behind-the scenes look at English justice from an insider with an unrivalled knowledge of the law, inspired by one of the most fascinating true-life cases of the decade, that of Sheila Bowler.
Hilda Forgan has been found guilty of the murder of her elderly aunt, Anna Beatty. The jury decided that since Miss Beatty was completely paralysed, she could not have electrocuted herself in the bath without assistance. As her constant companion and soul heir, not even the considerable skills of the defending counsel could persuade the jury that Miss Forgan is innocent. Miss Forgan, however, insists that her defence was not put forward, and is determined to take her case to the Court of Appeal. But no barrister will be willing to take her as their client - no one, that is, until Jeremy Scott steps into the breach.
In his third legal thriller, On Appeal, Jonathan Davies delivers his most controversial and shocking indictment yet of our justice system.

Praise for Jonathan Davies' Novel Undisclosed Material:
'Jonathan Davies is a practising barrister and Britain's answer to John Grisham...a tense, topical convincing novel, sharpened by the feeling that it reflects real-life corruption which can sometimes make justice very rough indeed' Michael Hartland Daily Telegraph
'Impeccable in detail and cunningly contrived - you won't be able to put this one down. Mr Davies has done it again' John Welcome Irish Independent
