Short Story: The Pangs of Prophecy

Faces Of Fear
Detective Inspector Rick Terry is back, investigating a series of letters sent to psychologist Joy Canova. Dr. Canova is known for treating unusual phobias in her patients ... and now, some of her patients are receiving letters from the mysterious Shadoe, describing in detail how he will use their phobias to kill them. Joy, fighting her own personal demons, impedes Terry's investigation in every way she can. One of her patients is Patricia Miles. Stranded in a pointless marriage, she seeks the thrill of an affair and falls for Leo Croft, Joy's ex-lover and a man with a dangerous edge.
'Once Inspector Terry gets on the case he solves it in his own special way, through his sensitive bedside manner which gets the witnesses to open up, as well as through his gut instinct. The ending, while unexpected, is thoroughly satisfying. A real page turner.' Emma Kaufmann, author of "Lawless Games"

The Rhythm of Revenge
This is the first mystery starring gay DI Frederick Terry.
Jessica Warner sets in motion a dire chain of events when she sneaks away from her husband's birthday to her beloved dance studio. After her mysterious disappearance, Inspector Terry sorts through a tangle of secrets and discovers that Jessica, untamed, zealous and single-minded, has enemies even among her friends and lovers, one of them psychopathic and unpredictable. As it becomes evident that three lives are in the balance, Terry has to think on his feet to find her before her captor can carry out his evil threats.

‘This book is wonderfully paced and all the characters - even secondary characters - are fresh and lively. Though at first I wanted to strangle the heroine Jessica, by the end of the book I was cheering for her.’ Carol Lynn Stewart, Under the Covers Book Reviews
‘The Rhythm of Revenge presents a suspenseful tale filled with non-stop action that kept my attention throughout the novel. This is an excellent read for fans of psychological drama and mystery, and highly recommended.’ Cindy Penn, Word Weaver
‘The Rhythm of Revenge is carefully choreographed and the atmosphere and setting are fine tuned for maximum effect.’ PJ Nunn, Mystery Morgue

About The Author
In her own words...
When I was a kid, my aunt taught me a couple of tap dance steps, but it was only two decades later that I took it up seriously, and I loved every minute of it - until a back injury forced me to stop. I found myself temporarily confined to a wheelchair. My husband went on extended leave from work so that he could look after our child and do the housework for as long as it took my back to heal. Thus, I had the luxury of plenty of time, but only limited options of things to do. I soon got tired of reading, watching TV and rolling in misery. Hadn't I always harboured the wish to write a mystery? Once my enthusiasm was sparkled, I forgot the crippling pain and was drawn into the life of my heroine Jessica, who is a far better tap dancer than I could ever have become.
I grew up in Germany. During my student years in Heidelberg, I met my husband Joachim, a physicist. Our daughter Natalie was born in 1991. I worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics and at a translation agency. Reading in foreign languages is my passion, closely followed by playing the piano, writing music, dancing, singing when nobody listens and trying new recipes. I live in the German countryside and enjoy my frequent research trips to London.
I am currently writing A Crime of Compassion, the next Inspector Terry Mystery, and co-authoring a thriller with best-selling author Karen Wiesner.
