Eye of the Warrior
Writing as Richard Hawke
Death, sexual indulgence and freshly-awakened instincts - for Peter Kirkland, petrochemical geologist, these are the elements of a frightening distortion of reality surrounding the myths and legends of a weapon once powerful enough to have changed the course of history.
For Kirsty Rowan too, an attractive American-born journalist working in Britain, the English longbow is more than the stuff of legend. It is, instead, the weapon that will plunge Kirkland into the nightmare of battle in his violent search for truth.
Fighting against his own imagination, with reality disintegrating around him, Kirkland sees the girl he loves slipping from his grasp while the imprint of the bow on his subconscious dictates, not just whether he will recover Kirsty and find what he so desperately seeks, but whether he, himself, will live or die.

Cogan's Falcons
In the hot, cloying atmosphere of one of the world's largest swamps, it is easy to follow trails that are not what they seem to be. For air accident analyst Jim Cogan the trails offer more than an explanation for the crashes he is investigating, for they lead him into an unmanageable and obsessive relationship with a young woman for whom the swamp has become a refuge in her bid to stay alive.
Determined to unravel the mystery of her past, but already entangled in a conspiracy to secure international air supremacy, Cogan takes her on a journey to a desolate region of Iraq. There, the development of a frightening new weapon system is threatening to destabilize the whole of the Middle East. Against a backdrop of terror and betrayal, Cogan and the woman find themselves fighting simply to survive.

'action-packed, tersely written thriller..." Sunday Star Times (NZ)
‘Peel is a remarkably skilled exponent of what he calls his 'politically incorrect' genre, overseas reviewers singling out the qualities of tight, fast-paced plotting, no-holds-barred violence, romantic interest and pared-down, laconic dialogue, and comparing his work with that of Alistair Mclean’. Oxford History Of New Zealand Literature In English. 2nd Edition.

About The Author
British by birth, Colin Peel has spent the greater part of his life outside of his native England. After some years designing weapon systems in the aerospace industries of the USA, Europe and Canada, he moved to the South Pacific where he has held senior positions in a number of large, international companies. In 1990 he became a full-time writer.
Although many of Peel's novels reflect his experience of working on classified defence projects, he has also written stories about terrorism, the heroin business, gun-running, nuclear testing and diamond smuggling.
With his wife Julie, he lives on the coast of a remote peninsula in New Zealand -- an environment that allows him to pursue his interest in dogs, wildlife and archery. Colin Peel is the author of over 20 books, translated into 6 languages in 10 different countries.
