Rona Parish is continuing her series of articles on old family businesses when she learns that Curzon, local manufacturers of fine bone china, are about to celebrate their 150th anniversary. Furthermore, this is planned to coincide with the introduction of a revolutionary new line, about which there is much speculation. Rona decides to approach the firm, and almost at once is caught up in the intricacies of the Curzon family, little realizing that her involvement will directly precipitate a tragedy no one could have foreseen, a tragedy whose roots stretch back to George Curzon, son of the firm's founder, and known to his contemporaries as The Rogue in Porcelain.

Rona Parish is eager for a fresh challenge after her successful articles on adopted children. A chance encounter with an old friend, Kate, now married into the Tarlton family who own the oldest jewellery shop in Marsborough, sows the seed for a new series. Rona plans to research the histories of several long-established family firms in the town, notably Tarlton's and the Clarendon Hotel, which is owned by the Fairfaxes.
Kate also enlists Rona's help in getting to the bottom of her sister-in-law Freya's terrifying nightmares after a tune from a musical box triggers a severe reaction. The dreams seem to hint at a buried childhood memory and Rona finds herself drawn into a complex - and deadly - web reaching far into the past.

About The Author
In Her Own Words
My mother was a published novelist and though I was making up poems and stories before I could write and filled countless exercise books throughout my school days, I didn’t start writing seriously until after I was married.
Laura Possessed was my first major success, and was followed by another six novels with a paranormal theme. I then wrote some romantic suspense before turning to straight crime, with sixteen books about DCI Webb, the last twelve of which were the ‘Green Grow the Rushes’ series. Next came two one-off crime novels with no police involvement, Past Shadows and Fathers and Daughters, but the lure of the series novel began to pull again, and I started a new one with a protagonist 'Rona Parish' who is a biographer and freelance journalist - and thus has plenty of opportunity to stumble across crime! The first of this series was Brought To Book.
I served as secretary of the Crime Writers' Association from 1986-1996.
